Making Moves

Palm leaf plates, bowls, platters and wrapped utensils for the days around a move, sized by the number of days your kitchen is in boxes. A physical product, sold direct, packed and shipped by Olivia from Albany.

The Making Moves 5 day kit: palm leaf plates, bowls and wrapped utensils in a shipping box

What was set up

A shop, a supply chain, and a box that survives the mail.

Making Moves is the launch that makes Situated Strategies useful to founders selling a thing, not only an app.

  • The shop at albanymakingmoves.com with Stripe checkout, kit pages, product photography and a quote form for larger orders.
  • A shipping and returns policy written in plain language, with a flat shipping rate.
  • Product listings and conversion tracking for paid search, matched to the shop.
  • Domain, DNS and an email address on the domain for orders and questions.
  • The physical side: a supplier, packaging that protects palm leaf in transit, inventory kept at a size one person can pack.
  • A brand, a logo and an origin story that explains why the kit exists.

What it taught

Payments are the easy part. Policies are the product.

Taking a card online takes an afternoon. What takes thought is everything around it: what happens when a box arrives crushed, what "flat shipping" means for an order to Montana, how a customer asks for a custom quote without an email thread turning into a spreadsheet. Making Moves is why the Premium tier includes a shipping or booking policy as a deliverable, not a footnote.

It's also why the first conversation always covers how an order actually arrives today. A kit that sells well on a site nobody can fulfil is not a business. Olivia packs each one herself because it's the fastest way to learn what the next version of the box needs to be.

Kit contents, prices and shipping details live on albanymakingmoves.com, which is the source of truth.
